Konrad Malawski

Konrad is an avid distributed systems fan and part of the Akka core team for almost 5 years, during which he worked on various pieces of the project (core, http, streams, typed) and wider ecosystem (sbt-jmh, spray-json, and others). He also briefly participated in the SLIP process and has helped with the Reactive Streams initiative where he worked on the TCK.

Holden Karau

Holden is a transgender Canadian open source developer with a focus on Apache Spark, Airflow, and related “big data” tools. She is the co-author of Learning Spark, High Performance Spark, and another Spark book that's a bit more out of date. She is a committer and PMC on Apache Spark and committer on SystemML & Mahout projects. She was tricked into the world of big data while trying to improve search and recommendation systems and has long since forgotten her original goal. Her introduction to functional programming happened with PLT Scheme and she hasn't been the same since.
